Windows Product Activation

HI!

I have just repaired windows because of some spyware/virus.

Now whenever after logging on, this message comes up:

Windows Product Activation
This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can continue. You cannot log on until you activate Windows.

Yes No

If i click no, it just logs off

if i click yes, it says, windows already activated, and then it goes and logs off.

Plz help!

This should not have occured just by doing a "repair" of your install. The only way I know of that this does occur is when you do a repair using a different disc than the one that came with the computer.

 

My suggestion is to get Microsoft on the phone and see if they can help you.

You can try booting in Safe Mode, then go to Start, Run and type in the following,

regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll then hit ENTER

regsvr32.exe licdll.dll then hit ENTER

Reboot, but you may have to activate it again.

I'm assuming this is a legal copy of XP, as I've only seen this error with certain cracks being used?

(You could also try deleting the activation data files - wpa.dbl and wpa.bak - from
the \windows\system32 folder. Make sure you keep a backup copy first.)
