Hello, my system is locked in a continuous loop of trying to get even into safe mode as it just shuts down and trys to turn on repeatedly. I am able to get into Recovery Console which might be an area to give commands? Two ideas are: one is to load this onto a flash drive and execute? Difficulty: ModerateInstructionsThings You'll Need:
    Symantec Vundo Removal Tool
Step 1Download FixVundo (see link in Resources). Save this EXE file to your desktop, but do not open it yet.

Step 2Click Start > Restart. The computer will now reboot.

Step 3Press "F8" right before Windows begins to boot up. This will pull up a screen where you can select "Safe Mode" to boot from by using the arrow keys to navigate. Press "Enter."

Step 4Log-on in Safe Mode as an Administrator. This will take you to your normal desktop, which will look how it normally does, with the exception of the icons being bigger because it is in Safe Mode.

Step 5Right-click My Computer > Properties. Click "System Restore." Once there, click Turn Off System Restore > Apply > OK. This disables System Restore so that Vundo cannot reincarnate itself after being removed by the tool.

Step 6Double-click "FixVundo.EXE" on your Desktop. Click "Start" to begin the removal process. The tool will now scan and remove traces of Vundo. This process may take from a few minutes to several hours, depending on how infected your computer is.

    Step 7Click Finish > Start > Restart.

Step 8Boot into Safe Mode again, using the directions in Step 3 and 4. Run the tool again and if nothing is found, your computer is clean of the Vundo Trojan. If not, run the tool repeatedly until no traces of Vundo are found.
Right-click "My Computer." Select Properties > System Restore > Turn on System Restore to re-enable System Restore. Click Apply > OK.
Reboot your computer into Windows as you normally would.
or secondly to enter FIXMBR as a command?

thanks Tim. I will consider that computer a throw away now as the recovery console is too confusing for me to understand and I cannot get to open data off a disc. At any rate I'll recover the graphics card and trash it. time to buy a new one........
