My wife's Lenovo Ideapad 3 laptop is running very slowly. Here is a sequence of possibly related events
    - Windows 11 version 22H2 update on 12/14/2022
    - An email from @eg.intuit.com said that Quickbooks 2020 would not be supported after May 31, 2023, but for $530 Quickbooks 2020 could be updated to Quickbooks Online.
    - Attempted a download of "Intuit Quickbooks update" from @eg.intuit.com on 12/15/2022. The download would not complete, and no money was paid.
    - A phone call to Intuit Quickbooks (the real one) "confirmed that @eg.intuit,com was not associated with us" on 12/15/2022
    - The computer began operating very slowly. Microsoft Windows Search Indexer keeps the disk 100% busy per Task Manager for hours at a time. Even when the disk is not 100% busy, the computer operates very slowly. Actions take 10-20 times longer than normal to complete. Many actions don't complete; they just quit.
    - On 12/29/2022, The Malware Removal tools from www.majorgeeks.com were begun.
    - The MalwareBytes scan took 15 hours to complete on 12/29-30/2022.
    - The MGTools scan did not show a completion message, so after 10 hours I terminated the scan.

The log files are attached. Your help is appreciated.

Please remove all your temp files. Also, please attach the log from ATFCleaner.

I have run ATFCleaner. It said that it removed 23.7 MB of files. It did not say anything about a report. I looked around, but could not find a report.

I looked in Control Panel at the Processor Power Management, and found the minimum speed set at 5%. I raised it to 50% and the computer is performing much better.

Good to know. Can I assume that you deleted the temp files? And are you having any other issues?

Yes, I had deleted all the temp files.

After a half hour of good performance, the poor performance returned. Per Task Manager, Microsoft Windows Search Indexer is the major user of Disk Utilization. If you have other ideas, I would like to hear them. Thanks.

I didn't see any malware. So I suggest you post in the software forum and look into what is running in Task Manager.
