Maybe it's just me, but having to use a desktop search util, seems to be an admission you don't know what you're doing or haven't got a clue where to look

Or maybe I just enjoy trolling up and down folders/dirctories rolleyes

Personally I have gotten used to using the Start Search box in Vista ( forerunner to WinSearch 4 ) long gone are the days needed to trawl through Start > All Programs > Find the apps folder only to be given another folder to open to gte to the exe.

OK you can edit and streamline all of these down to single folders, weed out the readmes and uninstallers to make the start menu list look fine, but I just find it now easy to start to type and find the app I need quickly via search, I do however pin common used apps to start menu or use a sidebar gadget with common used apps in it for ease of use..... choices are whats good, use whats best for you.

Add-on I do use for Start Search is Start++ from Brandon Paddock, adds a bit more oooph!

But horses for courses and Desktop Search is for some and not others.

Or maybe you have less documents, email, etc. than some others and a search pulls it up faster than scrolling huge directories.
