    Hello,
This morning i turned on my computer to find it got stuck for about 5 min on the black screen in between the windows loading splash screen and the login screen. after the 5 min finally a window came up saying windows was intalizing or somehting like that. that took about another 5 min. Then finally i could log in. I put my password in and loged in. It was stuck on loading personal settings for at least 25 min before I hard rebooted and tried to log into windows again, same stuff. I tried to repair windows, and I noticed that posting and command line stuff was running normal speed, when i went to repair it was also taking a lot longer than it should have. Right now im still in the windows phase of setting all the options and its taking like 5-10 min for each thing. Yesterday my computer was working fine, and shut down just fine as well. What could be the problem? did some of my ram go bad?

one of hte first things to do is find your bootlog and other various system logs, and post them up for us to read. You very likely have a driver or system resource that is stuck/slow/broken that you don't know about that is causing the problem.

You could also (if using XP) do a system restore to a day or two ago. This cures most corruption of driver configurations. Did you install or change anything? Sometimes conflicts don't show up until you reboot.

if you decide to restore make sure that u run virus and spyware scans once finished. using restore can actually duplicate existing viruses or spyware

Do a system restore and restore the computer to a point that the computer was know last to work correctly. Use a point that is more than just a couple days old.

Once the computer has been restored to a point that is will boot fully; follow the directions in READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
