Windows update error

Hi to all:
I get an error message (0x800703e3) when I try to update windows. I cannot update and have tried everything I can find on several forums. Maybe someone here can help and any help will be appreciated. Thanx to all

 

I just had the same problem and could not use Windows Updates, Rollbacks, etc.
I was getting pop-up to "SCAN-NOW", which of course was a virus.
This may not be your problem, but you should scan with "Superantispyware" and "malewarebytes" to check.
If you are clean, you can call Microsoft (1-800-936-5700) and they will help for free for Update issues.

You'll need to provide more information.

• What happens when you try to update? Does the download hang, or does the download complete successfully and then it won't install? Tell us the steps please.
• Do any of the updates work, such as Windows works but not Office?
• When was your last successful update?
• What have you done since then (eg Registry clean-up, new software installed...).

It's a bit hard to know what to suggest, as we don't know what you have tried. Please excuse if you get repeat suggestions.

You could try a restore to just after your last successful update (note: you need to find a successful update similar to the type which is now failing).
If you have done any Registry cleanups lately, try undoing them.
What OS and Service Pack do you have?
