Windows Update misbehaving?

I recently updated my OS to XP SP2. I have my Windows Update set to notify me when critical updates are available so I can download them when I can. I don't have it set to automatic download because I have dial-up access and I need to do the updates when it will not tie up the phone line.

On Feb 8, a whole boat load of critical updates came out, some of which pertained to SP2, yet I have not been notified about them. I have gone to the Windows Update site several times and it still insists that I don't need any updates. I turned off the Firewall and tried the update site again. Same result: no critical updates.

Is this possible, or is Windows Update not working correctly?

Look in Add/remove Programs

Pu a check in show updates.

Well, this is strange. I went to Add/Remove Programs and there is no checkbox for show updates. However, when I went to the installation history section on windowsupdate to check for that other fix, all the fixes from the 8th were there and had been installed!

I don't get it. Unless I'm going totally bonkers I know I was never notified about those updates nor did I install them. The only thing I can think of is that I installed SP2 from a CD. Maybe as part of the installation it went out and got those updates automatically.

Sorry to have troubled anyone. At least I'm up-to-date, even if my computer does seem to have a mind of its own!
