Windows Update page redirection

I have a PC that had a rogue security application. The computer was cleaned with Spybot, Malwarebytes, Super AntiSpy and Hitman 3.5. I have also ran the latest Malicious Software tool. All report system is now clean. Except for a few 'file missing" entries in HJT (which were fixed), the only entry that looked suspicious was 010 winsock lsp nwprovau.dll which couldn't be fixed. Downloaded the latest LSPFix and it reported no problems (the aforementioned dll is apparently associated with NetGear routers).

However Windows updates is not working - when you click Express (get high priority updates) it goes to a page error. If you type in the Windows Update site address in IE8 you get a page error or if you do the same in Mozilla you get taken to some crap page, and if you google, bing or yahoo 'Windows Updates" etc, when you click a link it goes to some crap page. This behaviour occurs in both Mozilla and IE8. I've reset the zones to default in IE8 and reset the IE settings. I've also disabled most of the Add-ins in both IE8 and Mozilla.

Where do we go from here? Wasn't sure whether you wanted the usual scans in this scenario. Would appreciate your help.
