I was given a Dell Vostro with Vista business 32 Bit. He said fix the d*nm thing it's your's...

I started with a clean install of the Dell OS disk with the above vista.

I installed Avira free, ZoneAlarm free, Anti-Spyware free.

I ran Windows Update, after configuring to download, install important, critical, optional etc. updates, automatically.

After one install that I had to click Accept agreement on, it found another
90, so I clicked install. It wouldn't. Gave me back, 8020002B and 80200053.

Ran from cmd: REGSVR32......\waupi.dll, wuaueng.dll, atl.dll, wucltui.dll, wups.dll, and all came back unloaded....

but, now I don't know what to do with that information.... I am asking this from my HP so I don't further add any other stuff to the Dell.

Please, I tried one other BB that a Gooogle search sent me to and have had no response for over a day..... 55 views, not a response one.

Don't know why I didn't come here first, This has been my home for a year, and just joined, am starting Malware classes, to come back and offer back...

Thanks for helping this old fart begionner....

Zonealarm is well known to interfere with Windows update. Try ditching it, and see if you have better luck.

I'm of the opinion that with antivirus and animalware, which you have, the built in firewall is good enough. I don't use a 3rd party firewall, and haven't had an infection of any kind. Maybe others would like to chime in with their recommendations.

By the built in firewall you mean Windows Defender?
I did go look at the post for 7 free. I downloaded it and will look at it. I was under the impression that Zonealarm was rated pretty good. Though I have read some negatives about. I have no allegiance to it. Just wanted something quick and temporary until I figured out why I can't get updates to work... Have any suggestions there? Or where I might go to look? I mean about getting what's wrong with Windows Update diagnosed and repaired....
