Hi everyone, I had a friend send me to this website/forum for help. I posted my question in Microsoft's forum but still haven't gotten a reply. I really need some help and would appreciate any ideas!

Here's what I posted early today:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ment-not/0b60b69f-b54b-4003-a341-e7f6f83db45d

    I'll paste it below:
Since then here's what else I've tried:

In cmd prompt tried sfc /scannow but I get the message, "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again." I reboot, same problem.

Ran the Windows Memory Diagnostics tool (from disc) and let it run the test three times. No problems were found. Reboot didn't fix.

Tried the bootrec /fixmbr from tutorial on this site:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/how_to_fix_the_windows_7_mbr_for_64_bit.html
I'm not sure what that's for, but it's an idea my friend sent me. Unfortunately, that didn't do anything else.

I don't know what mbrcheck is but I can't download install anything (I don't think).

Next I tried the links given by plodr here:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=277283
I couldn't get either of those to work. With the first one when I type cmd I get, "Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] but then when I try "net stop bits" I get an error that bits isn't right (can't remember what it says exactly but can try again if I need to.) I couldn't do the third step either to delete the qmgr*.dat files. I browsed through out my entire pc (using cd in the command prompt) and couldn't find the app data folder. So I'm stumped on this one.

I'm really stuck and don't want to have to reinstall Windows if I don't have to. Any help from you techie guru's would be heaven sent!

    Thanks a ton!
    -Rachel

Thanks, I took a look at those but they didn't help since I couldn't actually get back into Windows.

I ended up having to reinstall Windows. Oh well.

    Thanks, though!
