Wasn't sure where to put this so here it is. Sorry if its wrong.

When i click on windows update the page loads fine and says that it is checking for the latest version of the windows update software. The only problem is the page will just stay like this and will not change and will continue to say looking.

I never had a problem with this up until 6 months ago.

Any ideas of how i could get the updates without ordering the Cd, as this sadly is not a possible option for me.

I am running on xp home edition and on SP1 if that is any help.

    thank you for your help

Microsoft update page for XP is slow.
How long have ya waited before giving up?
Sometime firewall settings and stuff prevent update downloads but you'll usually get error message, when that's the case.

Have you tryed to set automatic updates in windows?

When you say update CD, do you mean the SP2 update CD?
The SP2 CD is Free, Postage is also free, Totally Free!
When I ordered Mine I got it in less than a week.

Here is link that bypasses the normal Update page, you can get most any Microsoft update there:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en

Click on additional popular downloads, or use the search for a download option.
You can save downloads to desktop/CD or open from, whatever.

    Good Luck!
