hi ive just installed vista on my computer and i have activated vista succefully but theres still an annoying writing in the bottom saying windows vista (TM) RC1 Evaluation copy build 5600. I was wondering is there any way to remove this sign as this is really bugging me

Right click on the desktop and click on View > then untick the box "Show desktop icons". But it hides also your desktop icons unfortunatly.

Early betas you could use a registry hack from XP beta days to remove the text but that doesnt work now as the way Vista's registry works is different to XP.

Possible that some tweak apps could do this, I have one to try, but have not installed it as yet, but you could see if that option exists to remove the text using this tweaking app http://www.majorgeeks.com/TweakVI_Basic_Edition_d5262.html

I don't see that option in the free version. Alot of the plug-ins and Tweaks are disabled.

The subscription version is $30. Might be in that one.

    Think I'll pass though.
