Windows vista sp1

.My friend updated her Gateway windows vista to sp1 and on restart it give a error of shutting down windows so it dont get dmg....
We tryed safe mode and it will not boot to safe mode
We tryed the vista restore disc and it loads files the back to the error screen
We tryed last known working config and back to error screen
We cant even bring up cmd window

 

What exactly is the error message?

 

What OS did the computer have to start with?

 

error 0x0000C1F5
and im sure its the only OS on it vista

I had a problem putting Vista sp1 on a computer that started with XP. I had to do a clean install.

 

Here are a few KB's from MS. Look them over and see if any of these will help. If not, let us know.
