windows won't boot!!!

I was in the process of removing spyware from a pc and after running adaware the system rebooted. Now when it boots it comes up to the blank desktop and I get "Explorer has caused and invalid page fault in module Explorer.exe" and windows will not finish booting. It does the same in safe mode. The first time I rebooted it came up asking me for my windows license. After I put that in now I get the explorer error every time. Any ideas how to get windows to boot?

 

I originally was cleaning off the istbar adware

 

It would help if we knew what version of windows it is since it's different steps for each one.

pressing F8 should get you into start up options
once there select command prompt only
Type the following at the prompt: ren c:\explorer.exe explorer.old, and then press ENTER.
then reboot computer.

Have already done that then I get the message to reinstall windows.

type
scanreg /restore
try to pick a backup from BEFORE you had problems.
let it run and reboot
