hello all I have yet another problem to deal with. I have an old dell GX110 that has windows xp pro on it. Now i need to make it so that it will automatically logon a user. Now I tried the way to do it on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/tips/advanced/autologon.mspx BUT theres one thing that i am missing. I am missing what is in the picture that i am uploading with this first post. I am missing the menu in the picture.

We are assuming there is only one account on the computer.....

perhaps this may be of some help if you want to logon automatically

    open regedit
    goto HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
modify autoadminlogon value to "1" if you want to logon automatically
and "0" if you don't want

actually theres 2 accounts on the computer... an admin and a restricted user account. i have a picture to show of the screen that i get. it's in the old windows 2000 like style... Also i tried the regedit part too... all it did for me was make the admin login automaticlly:banghead i must be making a mistake somwhere then i changed the defualtusername to the one that's supposed to log on automaticlly and then i made a new string for default password. but once i tried it administrator tried logging in automaticly instead of the account i asked for.

i have the same issue with what muymalestado posted that check box is missing all together. the windows xp that i am using has the Luna interface turned off we use the windows 98 and 2000 type interface... it's xp but with the old style interface. i think that might be my problem. i don't know if i have to have the service turned on to get to that or not... see post 1s picutre to see what i am talking about

I THINK UR PROBLEM MUST BE CURED BY CHANGING THE DEFAULT USERNAME
to name u want to automatic logon and entered the password in default password registry

    OR

If you don't like that i have come up with new solution
if you wanna automatically logon u can turnoff the guest account and the
    then try to logon automatically
