Hi, I'm back again. I still didn't get the computer working and I've had no replies to help me. Now, I have downloaded Active Partition Recovery. It lets me see what exactly is on the harddrive. I can see the C: drive and when I click on it I get all the folders etc in it. I went to C:\Windows and clicked on that. It brought up the usual folders and one that is named
Driver~1. So when I clicked on that, it showed that it has i386 on it. Now when I clicked on that I saw that it had driver.cab in it. This folder wouldn't open, so I don't know whats actually in it. I checked my own computer and that is where the hal.dll resides and my friends computer says that file is missing or corrupt. I tried the 6 windows xp floppy's and got to the point where you have the oportunity to point the way to the windows files so I entered: C:\WINDOWS\DRIVER~1\i386 and it got me nowhere fast. The message read like something about it not finding the windows files and I tried again to no avail. I don't have an XP CD and I haven't been able to find someone to borrow one from. Please help me!:cry
