Windows XP Disk Cleaner

I am unable to get my disk cleanup to compress files any more. I have even downloaded another "advance disk cleaner" and that didn't help any. What is so weird about is it has happened on my laptop, home desktop, and work desktop.
A friend of mine who works on computers says he has never heard of that type of problem, nor any of his friends at work.
I have run several different virus and spyware programs and none of them correct it. My main virus protection is Norton. PLEASE HELP!!!confused :cry

I am in no way an expert as far as the 'best' antivirus program. Just due to personal experience, I do not like the Nortons. It may be a great program if setup right. Just not my choice.

I also have that installed. It is compatible with Norton.

 

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that when you run Windows disk cleanup with 'compress files' enabled, it looks for files/folders that haven't been used in awhile, and it compresses 'em. Sooner or later, all old files will be compressed. At this point, a 3rd party disk cleaner (CCleaner is a Major Geeks favorite) may not do any good. Check these links:

Hope these links help. You may need to track down a program that will scan for programs by date of last use, and remove 'em that way....
