Windows XP Home, BSOD

I've gotten two BSODs recently. The first was a week ago. My laptop did that auto shut-off due to overheating, so I blew out the fan with compressed air, let it cool down, then installed SpeedFan for monitoring purposes. About two hours later, I got the BSOD. I rebooted, then removed SpeedFan, and everything was fine.

The second was about two and a half hours ago during normal operation (though I was viewing a rather graphics-intensive website with java-loading images, I don't know how relevant that is). While I can't exactly remember what the stop message from the first BSOD was, the second was a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error. Unfortunately, I neglected to record the stop codes.

I have the minidump files here from both crashes if anyone would be willing to look through them. Please? Any help is much appreciated.

 

The crashes are caused by the driver nmconpid.sys, which is part of spyware product called NetMeter (created by NetRatings).

Go to the spyware forum and have them help ya.

 

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/updatehistory/2003-04-28.html seems to mention it since along ago. You could try run Spybot and Destroy or Lavasoft Adaware first - then go to spyware forum to check it is actually gone. There could be more not giving BSOD.

And you should upgrade to SP2. Ive seen some spyware forums demanding SP2 or they wont answer people so prepare... Not unreasonable, if they didnt they wouldnt take their "job" seriously. However, may be best to remove any spyware before upgrading!
