    Hey

I am reformating my old computers hard drive because it has become really slow. But i have ran into a problem i cannot find my Windows Xp Home cd that came with my computer. I was wondering if i borrowed a Windows Xp Home cd from a friend and entered my Serial number if it would work?? My CD is sp1 and so is his.

If not what are my other alternatives??

    Thanks!

That usually works for us here! Its the license that you pay the big bucks for, not the media.

My understanding is that MadaMilty is correct-never tried it myself-but I have also been told that you can contact MS, who will confirm your license and send you a replacement CD for a very nominal cost. I should think it would be worth it just to have the replacement CD always on hand....
