Windows XP NT and AVG install problems

I have WindowsXP and was performing the run me and read me. When trying to reinstall AVG it failed. I could not run the reset, the error message is that access is denied regarding a Registry Key for Windows NT. Since I bought this machine used a few years ago with XP on it, is there any reason I should have Windows NT items on the machine? I found a few items and want to know if its safe to delete them, its not the whole program these items only.

Okay, thanks. I still don't know what to do about "access denied" for something that isn't there. I do not like using the computer without anti-virus.

 

XP is really NT5, Vista and Windows 7 are also part of the NT family

Don't delete anything if you don't know what it is - 4/5 of those items I know to be part of the Windows install, not sure on the other but I think it might break Internet Explorer and/or the Help system if deleted.

Tell us more about the access denied error please, as many details as you can, screenshots too, if you want.

Hello, I am not sure what happened. Running AVG's reset program 4 rimes seemed to do the trick. I wish I knew for sure, though. Thank you very much for being there. You folks are the bomb.
