I had an issue with a browser high jacking and in my fustrations I may have deleted my Print Spool Service files.

Every program and trick I tried produces a " No Print Spooler Service "
    message.

I even tried reloading the driver for the printer but I still get the " No Print Spooler " message.

I went in to Services & Apps to try and manually start it but there appears to be no files.

Tried System Restore but it won't restore.

Any suggestions other than lighter fluid?

When you say ,uninstall everything and try again , are talking about the software for the printer?.......or are you saying to clean it and fomatt?

    Does the below file exist?

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe

Also run services.msc from the Start, Run, box and see if the Print Spooler service is set to Started and Automatic.

As Chas says, spoolsv.exe is a program that has to be present in your system.
    It controls your printing sequences.

The answer is, there are no files under that heading when I did " Run " or service.misc

I did however, delete the driver for the printer and tried to reload it and now I'm getting " can not complete download until print spool file can be found "

And now I'm no longer getting any print spooler messages.

Instead I'm getting " Please install a printer to your computer"

Tried to download Free Malware Killer software, but my screen went blue and the demon inside told me to contact my software or hardware mfg about this erro message.

    Anyone up for a Barnfire?

I've uploaded my copy from an XP Home SP3 computer
    Code:
    http://file.walagata.com/w/perk/MjG/spoolsv.exe
If you put what I've coded in the address of your browser, you will get a download popup. Download it, scan it with your antivirus then place it into the C:\Windows\system32 folder.

Thanks a bunch, I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow, too tired to tackle it tonight.

Let ya know have it comes out.

    It lives another day.

Chances are if your system was damaged that badly, replacing the file may fix that issue, but with the unknown state of other missing files/system components, may best to do a reinstall of windows. This will help prevent future issues from arising, plus put you back in a known good state of machine.

Today is Saturday, downloaded the file , stored on desktop, ran Malwarebytes,

Scan came back with some type of Saurus item, gave it permissiom to fix and re-start,
file was gone from desk top once pc rebooted.

It is getting cooler out, would you say a barn fire was in order?

Was the scan done just on the one file or your entire computer?

Initial scan done on item showed it was clean.

Saurus item showed up after whole pc scan, ..deleted saurus,.. and file was gone from desktop once program was closed.

Didn't mean to imply that it was bad, just the demon destroyed it while I was busy scanning for his sister.

    Thanks just the same.

Are you having any problems since you scanned the computer and it removed Saurus?

Hello every one, I'm new. My printer quit yesterday and the problem seems to be related to spoolsv.exe not found. Xp sp3. Does anyone have any ideas or direct me to find an answer. Thanks

When you post, mention your version of windows, the printer you are using and when the problem first appeared. If you tried to fix it mention what you have tried (like using a restore point before the problem appeared) and what happened when you tried the fix.
