Windows XP Pro - Toolbar disappearing

Hello,

Well, I've sort of explained the problem in the title.

When I log onto Windows, things are fine, then as things are loading...the toolbar says goodbye - and doesn't come back.

Was just wondering if there was some sort of cleanup tool to fix this sort of thing. I'm running (updated) spyware & virus scans now to clean up anything. Although I usually do run these scans anyway, I keep having to use system restore so that the toolbar comes back.

Any ideas? Need more specs, details etc - let me know.

When you put your mouse over the bottom of the screen after you lose the task bar, does it return? Can you get to it to shut down? Try getting it to appear. and click on start, then right above start RIGHT click on properties. There you will find 2 Tabs, one says Start Menu and the other taskbar. Check in the tab that says taskbar and see if somehow you have a check mark in Auto-hide the task bar. If you do, uncheck it and click apply. That should fix your problem. Let us know ok?

The toolbar totally disappears. Gone, doesn't come back.

The settings you suggested are all currently in place and this has only been a recent problem, since I re-formatted my computer several months ago.

I can click the Windows button on my keyboard and the listings for programs, turn off computer etc.. etc.. all come up, but for example if I minimize an MSN conversation or browser, I won't be able to get it back without using CTRL+ALT+DLT, which obviously I don't want to make a habit of using.
