When I try to play videos they're covered uniformally with black dots (pixels?)

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Need to know what software you're using to view the files, types of videos, type of video card, etc.

Have you tried reinstalling/updating the video drivers?

Did the problem suddenly occur due to some event?

Have you overclocked any part of the machine?

Any pertinent info you could provide will prove helpful.

I have windows media as my default and I can't find an upgrade for the display MSI Radeon 9550.
The only change I made recently was to do a System Restore. Everything else has been as is for a coon's age!

I suggest uninstalling your present drivers, and downloading and installing the Catalyst 10.11 drivers.

Your download idea seems to have eliminated the pixel problem. Now I have audio that's jerky/clipped and some videos!!

    Are these streaming videos?

Got to plead ignorance but what is "streaming video"?

I'm sorry. By 'streaming', I mean 'internet', such as YouTube.
If internet audio/video is choppy, that could be a function of your internet reception, not necessarily that of the graphics driver.

As I mentioned, I've downloaded that video repair you recommended and it appears ok at the moment. It's not video now, it's the audio that's 'clipped'

    Sorry - miscommunication.

First, check your volume controls, make sure they're not maxed out, which can cause waveform clipping.

If that's not it, a reload of your audio drivers may be in order. Need to know what type of discrete or onboard audio you're using.

Audio is shown as Realtek AC97 AND Creative 24 Live!

Do you have SP3 loaded? If not, then first you need to download and install the MS UAA patch located here. If you've got SP3, then you shouldn't need that file.

The AC97 drivers are located here, and the Creative drivers are located here.

If you're using the Creative PCI sound card, you need to make sure the AC97 is disabled in your BIOS.

If you have any questions or problems, let us know.
