Windows XP Pro x64

Noticed the RC1 release, and decided to install my old Beta disc i hadd orderered a year ago, in hoped to upgrade to the new RC1.

just relized windows update isnt going to support x64 until an official release.

I'm curious if anyone knows of a way to update or patch this beta version to the new RC1?

I cant find a way, so i'm downloading the full ISO for RC1 as we speak (almost done )

granted I havent loaded an Antivirus yet, but so far this feels excitingly quick, even in standard everyday tasks

 

No you can't upgrade from the beta to this RC. Or well it is possible, I suppose. But it's not supported, so doing it would require some fancy work on your part. Just do a fresh install.

And remember, a lot of stuff doesn't have 64 bit versions yet anyways, so using it right now won't get you any performance increases. Also there are stupid games like Doom3 which detect a 64 bit OS and then refuse to run the installer because for some reason they thought they'd be retarded about it, even though the game runs on a 64 bit machine just fine, if you can manage to install it manually.

Basicly what I'm saying is, support isn't quite there yet, so I wouldn't put it on as a primary OS.
