You sure your computer will support it?

You can install it as an upgrade, or a clean install.

 

put it in your cd drive and follow the instuctions

 

how do l do a clean install?

 

Insert windows CD, boot to cd, run setup, setup will get to point where it ask's if you want to format, choose Format (not Quick format) use the NTFS file system it's better than Fat32.
All data on old windows will be gone, back up any important data to CD/dvd/floppy or email to self, before Format.

The above can be done even if you have an XP upgrade cd, you do not have to reinstall 98 to use upgrade cd.

Just did all this yesterday. Guess that makes me an expert. You can do a clean install as long as you have another version of windows on a drive in your PC.

You can also do a clean install as long as you have a genuine M$ OS CD going back as far as W95.

On the outside of my Upgrade box it states that anything from W98 is OK. When you commence the installation it says W95 is OK too.

Both genuine W95 and W98 CD's didn't work for me despite the fact that I loaded them into the same CD drive that I was installing XP Pro from.

Didn't even work when I tried installing from an external CD/DVD drive.

Had to fit my W98SE drive and XP setup found that. Bazza
