Windows XP Problems

O.K. guys here is is...I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 and I am the administrator...here is my probelm.

At first I could not start my computer everytime I tried after the Windows XP splash screen I would get and error message that said windows need to restart and the restart was ordered by NT/Authority.

I was finally able to restart is safe mode and run both a virus scan (I use Symantic Endpoint) and a spyware scan (using spyware begone). I tried to run a malware scan using MalwareBytes and it scanned fine but when it gets to the repair part the software shuts down and when I try to restart the software I get the following error message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item."

Last night I tried to run a scan from the TrendMicro site and the scan was about 3 quaters done and then IE shut down and now when I try to open IE I get the "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." error.

I get the same results when I try to run the Registry Scan from Glary Utilities...the scan runs fine until I try to start a repair and then the program shuts down and I get the "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." error.

I have tried just about everthing I know and I am running out of ideas, I would appreciate any help you can give me!!

 

Greetings, notmentalyet, you may want to go to the Malware thread, and do the READ AND RUN ME FIRST, and see if they can get you up and running.. Must be a reason for that, as I also have XP SP3, and no problem like that.. Sounds like you may have a "unwanted friend" in there somewhere... Give that a check, and be sure to follow the instructions to the letter... They are experts there, and you can trust them.
