Windows XP Problems

Hi All,

I posted about this last week. Tried everything that you wonderful people suggested. NOTHING worked. So I called Compaq, they said that it was possible that my RESTORE drive was corrupted. So they sent me the CD'S. Today I reinstall windows with the CD'S, NOTHING.. Still the same old problem.

PROBLEM= Guess it would help if I told ya huh??

My browser or computer which ever is at fault, will not download anything, not even Windows Updates. I can do anything I want, play games ETC, but cannot get it to accept downloads. Compaq seems to think it might be my hard drive. What is your opinion?

It is a Compaq Presario AMD athlon XP 2400 2.00 Ghz, 368 ram.

Don't know what was discussed in your other thread so.................

Might be your firewall. Check & see if it is configured properly.

Have you got a good Internet Service Provider. (ISP)

Tried both neither would work.. Would not download..

I got a message that Nortons detected the w32.Welchia on my computer and removed it..

I just have a feeling that there is a bug in here and Nortons or any of the other programs is picking it up.

I think it might have ruined my hard drive, is that possible?

ww thanks. i did do a fomat and a new install with the manufactures CD'S.. Still did not seem to help.. Yes I agree, it does sound like a software problem but locating it has givin me nothing but grief lol.. I just cannot seem to locate it..

Will try another re-load tomorrow..

DSL. I have checked all my connections and even opened an account with AOL still not luck.

 

Did you do a google for the virus??
