Windows XP Professional acting up

I have microsoft windows xp professional edition, and recently i got some spyware.
the spyware was removed succesfully, but there is a new problem:
every time i go to delete a program in use by another user or the system, i receive an "access denied" box. this is annoying- although it is not crippling, its nice to be able to clear unneeded processes. please help.

 

What files are you trying to delete? Where are they located? Are you logged in as a limited user?

Are these files within taskmanager as a running process?

 

i am trying to delete processes in task manager that belong to other users or the system. i am an administrator and could always do this, up until a week ago.

 

Hmmm...

open the properties of taskmgr.exe (found in the system32 folder), and check the security tab. Make sure the groups you are part of have the correct privileges to it.

And are you certain that you're 100% free of malware? This thread should DEFINITELY be followed to make sure.

 

when i accessed the properties for taskmgr.exe, there was no security tab. any other ideas?

 

please someone help- i cannot find the security tab of taskmgr.exe, i guess it doesnt exist on my computer
