    Hi

What is the exact model of Gigabyte Motherboard?

If the drivers and hardware (need the info from 1st question) do not support 2.1 sound then you will need new hardware as in a 2rd party add on Audio Soundcard that supports 2.1 sound, and do you have 2.1 sound speakers?

    Hi

Would need the exact model version and should be something like GA-965P-DS3 or similar code, likely printed on the motherboard itself or you can find it using the below

Have you checked the Audio Control Panel to see if you have sound setup correctly for 2.1?

    Hi

If running a none original XP as you mentioned some data may not show, so look at the actual motherboard as it should state the model code somewhere on it, generally in Gigabyte boards its near the CPU or RAM area (but not always the case).

Is your 2.1 sound speakers not working as intended? if so do check the audio control panel that it has listed the correct soundcard and you have tested and setup for 2.1 sound.

    Hi

Please do attach as written the Everest log as I maybe able to see the exact motherboard you are using, its possible that a driver is amiss but without knowing the motherboard used its a wild guess.

Intel 82801GB ICH7 could be anything, many motherboard use this chipset and not all are using the same driver as many are customised by the OEM (OEM = the likes of Gigabyte etc)

Have you checked the Audio control panel to see if the onboard realtek driver is the one chosen as this could be the issue, http://www.tinyeye.com/avsetup/soundsetup_xp.html <<< how to locate the settings

Edit: cheers on the motherboard name :)
