I reloaded windows XP home edition on my computer. I still have my original user account which is perfectly configured on the harddrive, but I am not able to access it.

How can I get the new version of windows to see these old user accounts which exist in c:\documents and settings\old user account? How can I make an old user account my default account?

    Thanksconfused

You can't I'm afraid. You won't be able to create an identical user account.

What you can do is migrate the account's settings to a new one.

For example, the desktop icons on your OLD user account are contained in

    c:\document and settings\nameofolduseraccount\desktop

    and

    c:\documents and settings\all users\desktop.

The same goes for the Start Menu folders.
