Okay so I've had extremely bad luck for a striaght month and long story short my computer has been broke for a month so I finally found the money to get lousy Gateway to fix it. I got it back yesterday and today it got this really wicked nasty virus that not even I can repair and it seems to be pointless to even bother. So a friend of mine just said to reformat and restore since I didn't re-install everything anything. So how can I reformat Windows XP and restore the entire hard drive without a installation disk? I have a recovery partition. Problems is everytime I press F11, it asks for a disk so I guess Gateway reformatted it and didn't finish it (Gee how kind)

I did and I posted a topic but I really don't have time to fiddle with this virus so I might as well wipe it out by a reformat so thats why I'm here...

I JUST got this system back yesterday, I spent a whole day devoted to re-installing everything and during the installation it was infected. The lousy anti-virus on this computer didn't maintain it long enough so I could finish installing symantic. And yes I don't have time, I'm a full time college student that desperatly needs this computer fixed immediatly for papers that are due within the week. My notebook has only been infected once in 2 years and this is the second time. Every other post was for either my desktop or other people's computers

Well this is the situation I have with Gateway. I bought it back in April of 2006 with a year warrenty, when that expired I bought another year, apparently after 2 years you cannot continue the warrenty. So my motherboard died AGAIN which really frustrates me since they should have a 10 year life span and i'm on my 3rd one. So after a month of trying to get $200 to fix it, it took them a week to fix it (I have to mail it in) Getting a hold of Gateway is impossible, basically let's put it this way, i'd have a better chance at catching a Leperchaun than getting a hold of Gateway Customer Support. And i've been on a unlucky streak for the past month and all I want is just to have this fixed all ready and if it means reformating it again then so be it, the first thing I'll do is re-install symantic and kick McAfee to the curb
