I have a major problem that is impossible to solve... Ok when i start my computer, everything loads fine until it gets to the Windows XP Pro loading screen. after it loads, nothing happens, just a blank black screen..... so i thought i should reinstall windows xp.

I went into f8 command menu when i started the computer. i went into safe mode to see if it worked, but it gave me a blue screen with a error on it. it is:
    STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC000001D, 0X8060AC7F, 0XF88AE0F4. 0X00000000)
and plus i dont have a working floppy drive, so i cant use the boot file from microsoft.com.

How should I solve this problem.... I need a way to reinstall windows xp.... thnx alot. oh btw if theres another way instead of reinstall, let me know.

btw computer specs: P3 924mhz, 20gb HD, 20gbHD (theres 2 drives.), 512mb ram, GeForce 5200 FX, CD-RW (2 of them), generic sound hardware, and Windows XP Professional.

    Hi Sung715,
I found the following info, info link

does the memory post when you first power up?
do you hear any beeps (long, short)?
When the screen goes blank, do you hear a click sound?

If this is a name brand pc, and you are using a "restore" disc, you may have to remove any hardware that didnt come with the pc, and install that stuff later.

    Hope this helps some!

    Sorry I misread.

While I have done a couple installs of win xp, I have more experience with win 2k, and as they are both NT based operating systems, I am pretty sure you should be able to perform a " repair" on your old install.

To get the cd to boot, you may need to access the bios interface, with most pc's, just powerup and when you see the POST screen, hit the delete button, or
there will be instructions on the POST screen "to enter setup push ____ button/s".
Once you are in bios setup you will need to change the "first boot device" to the cd drive you will be using, and hit the f10 button to save (in most cases).

The pc should now POST and boot to the XP cd, you may be prompted to "press any key", when setup starts you should have the option of doing a repair, or full install (personally I would try the repair first).

On the restart after the repair has run, you will need to switch the first boot device back to the original hard drive.

I hope this helps you, in the meanwhile maybe someone else will chime in with some good ideas;)

You know what, i have the wrong post name... because thats not the problem now.... its a hardware problem.. it was worse than i thought...
i should take this to the hardware section... someone move this there... lol..
ok i think that its probably ram thats causing the problem like u said Mr.X

and both of them,(i took one out tried it, replaced it tried it) and didnt work.. so it could be that both of the ram cards i have are bad...

when you tested your ram, did you make sure to not just take one card out, but to try both cards in each slot?

yeah i did..... i have 3 slots and i put them in the first and second then second and third, and then i tried only using one card on 1st slot, 2nd slot, 3rd slot and then tried the other card... i get the error messages again, could it be ram or something else...

Does your Mobo run SATA and IDE? if it does the Stop error you're receiving is specific to the SATA emulation set on your BIOS. Hope this helps
