windows Xp SP3 Cannot run Spybot

    Normally I can clean a system up easily, but this one has me stumped.

    I have a Windows Xp SP3 computer that will slowly freeze. When Spybot Search and Destroy runs it freezes almost right away.

    I have deleted all spybot folders and registry entries and reinstalled to no avail.

    I have attached all 5 scans.

    Hitman Pro did find a few things. (I did not let it remove them. :) )

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator) When it opens, press the Scan button Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:
    • [RUN][SUSP PATH] HKLM\[...]\Run : MXO Auto Loader (C:\WINDOWS\MXOALDR.EXE) -> FOUND [Services][ROGUE ST] HKLM\[...]\ControlSet002\Services\19667 (\??\globalroot\systemroot\system32\drivers\19667.sys) -> FOUND [Services][ROGUE ST] HKLM\[...]\ControlSet003\Services\19667 (\??\globalroot\systemroot\system32\drivers\19667.sys) -> FOUND [HJPOL] HKLM\[...]\System : DisableRegistryTools (0) -> FOUND [HJ DESK] HKLM\[...]\NewStartPanel : {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} (1) -> FOUND
    Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked. Now press the Delete button. Now click the Files/folders tab and locate these detections:
    • [ZeroAccess][FOLDER] U : C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{96af415c-8da0-a6a9-5cc2-a3b871b98bc5}\U --> FOUND [ZeroAccess][FOLDER] L : C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{96af415c-8da0-a6a9-5cc2-a3b871b98bc5}\L --> FOUND
    Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked. Now press the Delete button. When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach) Do not reboot your computer yet. Rescan with HitmanPro. Choose to Delete these files if they are detected:
    • C:\Program Files\ALO SOFT\ALO Video Converter\video.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\searchprotocolhost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{96af415c-8da0-a6a9-5cc2-a3b871b98bc5}\L\ (ZeroAccess) C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{96af415c-8da0-a6a9-5cc2-a3b871b98bc5}\L\00000004.@ (ZeroAccess) C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{96af415c-8da0-a6a9-5cc2-a3b871b98bc5}\L\201d3dde (ZeroAccess) C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{96af415c-8da0-a6a9-5cc2-a3b871b98bc5}\U\ (ZeroAccess)
    Ignore all other detections. Afterwards, click the Next button. HitmanPro may want to reboot the PC in order for the changes to take affect, please do so. Now re-scan with both RogueKiller and HitmanPro and attach those new logs.

    Attached are the 2 new log files.

    I had to rerun hitman a second time so the deletion of video.exe is not shown.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). Then attach the below logs: * C:\MGlogs.zip Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    :cry

    System cannot boot into safe mode...hangs at mup.sys, need to crow bar it.

    Rebooting into normal mode after attempting to log into safe mode and crow baring the file system is "dirty" file system and cleans it.

    When I get to the desktop the system is sluggish and soon freezes.
    ie: No response from mouse and keyboard status lights do not change.

    Any more ideas?
    Are there any tool that I can run with the drive connected as a USB drive?
    Looks like all the tools you have me run need the system running.

    Go to start / run / and type in:
    sfc /scannow and have your XP disc handy.

    Runs till 1/3 of the way then stops.
    No drive activity light.
    Mouse is hourglass over desktop.
    Pointer over task bar.
    No response clicking (left or right) in task bar.

    Last night I ran chkdsk from repair console ... took several hours...

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

    This morning I was able to run sfc with no problems. :-D

    I am currently running Spybot. :-D

    I do believe my next step is to duplicate to a new drive as I believe this one is failing.

    Unless there are more steps you think I need to take I believe we are done. :)

    You are most welcome.


    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Go to the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
