Did something stupid...not unusual, but I tried to upgrade from Win 2000 Pro to Win XP Pro...ignored the warning about no upgrade function, loaded Xp on the same partition and now some of my programs don't work. I want to remove the XP and get back to Win2K and hopefully not screw up my programs and data....can anyone help, please?

How about reinstall Windows, but first backup your data in safe place(usb or CD),and in the future don't ignore the warnings when you install or upgrade something.

Not sure what you did please elaborate.

Did you try for dual boot?
Did you try to 'upgrade to XP' if so what OS does it now boot to?

It does dual boot now....Win2K and Win XP
Is there any way to remove XP and leave Win2K intact?

If it genuinly boots to both Win2000 and XP you are home and dry.

Windows XP has an uninstall or revert function.

    start>Control panel>add/removeprograms
select the windows xp uninstall item
click change/remove button in the next box that opens
    select uninstall
    select continue
    select yes.
