Windows Xp won't load.

    I am trying to help someone with a Dell dimension, sorry I don't know the model, it has Windows XP and IE7. Everytime he starts it a page comes up that says 'Invald Boot'...Then a mode page comes up for choosing normal mode, safe mode, etc, etc. He has tried all of the choices on the mode page and always gets the same blue screen coming up which says 'A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down....' the blue page has a bunch of numbers including 0x00000024

    What can be done help?

    Is the 0x00000024 the first of four numbers that appears?
    Does this person have an XP CD?
