Where does it stop? At the format you mean?

I trust you've had it for awhile? What made you want to format it? Any problems last month?

You have to try to describe a little better. We have no idea of how it looks or what happens and therefore it's impossible to try to give you a solution.

    Tell us this:

    What motherboard are you using?
    What cpu?
    What harddrive? (Make and size)
    How much memory?

What are you / the computer doing when this problem occurs?
What have you done to try and remedy it?
Does it give you any error messages?

Try to descripbe in as much detail as you can. Too much info is never bad, too less is worse.

Well at this very early point I'm guessing a dirty cd or a faulty drive, either the harddrive or the cd rom / dvd rom.

Check so the windows cd is clean and got no scratches. Also try to use another cd rom if you have.

hp pavilion 563w, hard drive is a seagate 80 gb,memory 256mb and the motherboard it what ever came with the pc, dvd-rom, hp-cd writer everything in this pc is what came with it when bought. but when I place the cd in it goes to checking your system, then it goes to where I can setup xp or del the old partition all that stuff and when I click the os i want it starts that and goes to where your pc will reboot in 15 sec then it all starts over again thats as far as I get. Thanks for all the help

    Alright, that's good info.

Do you want to format the drive completely or are you trying to repair / go dual boot? If you're formatting the thing I suggest you erase the partition (something like press R, L, Enter) just read the options it should tell you there. Then create a new partition (all or part of the drive you decide) and install on that.

Chances are the setup sees your already installed version and crashes with that. Also, if you (though I wouldn't belive it) have any problems with your harddrive it will show now.
