WindowsXP running real slow after format C:

    I recently formatted my c drive due to there being tonnes of junk on it and once i reinstalled winXP the thing has been running extremely slowly and keeps crashing. When trying run a program the screen goes dim and the machine crashes! Any help would be much appreciated.

    I have dell dimension 2400 running winXP pro
    geforce xfx 5200 graphics card
    1 gig RAM
    80 gig HD running at 7200

    did you delete the partitions when you reinstalled or did you just install over the existing partitions?
