I have the same dam problem

I have the same sort of problem it's like my sound card can pick up my HDU IE turn the speakers to max and then move your mouse around the screen (bizzar).

I have you tried the old faithful and re-installed the sound drivers(latest of course) or failing that I have found that with XP generic drivers tend to work best.

You are not using an AthlonXP PC from time by any slim chance.

    Good Luck.

Try installing some of the Windows Updates ... not the critical ones... but the recommended ones. There are a few in there for MSN Messenger Audio problems, and references issues like popping and crackling coming from the speakers. It's just for MSN Messenger, but hell... might be worth a shot.

Besides applications updates, one should also look at:
    1. Hardware conflicts (Yep IRQ hell is not dead yet, soundcards and other highspeed PCI devices are still very touchy about IRQ sharing)
    2. Driver updating (The motherboard drivers can have a high impact on system performance, along with sound experience)

    Mecroneo,

What are you complete system specs. It's hard to troubleshoot for you when all we know about your system is that you're using windows xp pro and a 16-bit soundblaster.

It sounds to me like you have a motherboard using a VIA chipset. So, head over to viaarena.com and download the latest VIA 4in1 drivers (if you do have a motherboard with a VIA chipset). Also, go to creative's website and download the latest drivers for your soundcard.

The last thing I'd try is to up the PCI latency, which can be done in your BIOS. Don't try that just yet. Try the first two things I reccomended before the PCI latency.
