My wife downloaded and installed Freeze clipart and with it seemed to appear several other programs-free ringtones, etc. The one that is really annoying is winferno. It does not appear to have ever been installed and there are only a few remnants of it in the registry. However, every so often it will pop up on the desktop with a generic icon and on the taskbar as well. It is not in programs and the properties on the shortcut cannot find it. I have looked in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then under Software and it has a folder there. One with ab(default) Reg_SZ (Value not set) and a subfolder with Reg Power Cleaner CurLang Reg_DWORD 0X00000409 (1033). I have not been able to use System Restore since the clipart was installed either. (I am assuming this was when I lost that ablility as I don't think I had any probelms before.) I did uninstall the clipart program. Is there someway to get the winferno out of the registry. I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to messing around with the registry and would appreciate any advice to get rid of this nuisance. Also, any ideas on how to get the System Restore to work again?
