I couldn't find a solution from others problems, so...
I deleted what I believed to be a virus, after my computer began restarting for no reason (crash). It was attached to important file wininet.dll I assume since after I deleted it. I get a blank screen except my wallpaper. I have XP home edition, but only the disk for professional. I reinstalled XP pro onto onother hard drive so I may use my computer. I would like to fix the original problem and delete XP pro. What can I do?
    Thank you!

Yes, you can, and likely will HAVE TO replace the dll. However, you should run through the instructions in the malware removal thread to make sure that your system is clean, and that this doesn't happen again in the future.

OK, I dowloaded the file, and It boots up at this professional edition. When I F8 to make it boot up in XP home edition, it only boots up in safe mode, and tells me to hit yes to continue running in safe mode, or no to go into system restore. Neither choice does anything, and even though I Have my Icons and start menu, I cannot click on anything to do anything. The only thing that works is ctrl alt delete to restart or shutdown windows. I am using this XP pro I installed to another drive just to get help. I want to get home ed. working so I may delete this pro version. (I can't find any of my original disks). I will try to give you any other info I can. I have done the malaware removal in the past. I will do it again as soon as I can get back to where I was.

So, the Home installation will boot into safe mode. Hrmm.

Can you run MSCONFIG and disable all startup options, including all non-Microsoft services? Within safemode that is...

I was able to disable everything in msconfig. The same pop-up keeps coming up continuously saying that yes to continue in safe mode, no to go to system restore. When I hit no it said I was unable to do so. When I rebooted after disableing all in startup (msconfig) It continued to do the same thing.
