    attached are the following files:
    * 1st Spy Sweeper Log (on safe mode)
    * 2nd Spy Sweeper Log (winlogonhook still showed up)
    * Ewido Log
note on ewido log: I am using Norton 2005 but I wasn't able to clear the Norton Protected Recycle Bin because the folder C:\recycler\nprotect cannot be found.

i don't know if this may sound right but... i ran Ewido after I submitted this post.

as usual, it cleansed some cookies in my system.

next, i ran spy sweeper and to my surprise, no spyware or malware was found. winlogonhook, specifically, was nowhere to be found.

i am clean now? i hope so. comments / suggestions are most welcome!

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Are you saying you ran SpySweeper a third time which was after running Ewido and your Spy Sweeper log is now clean? The reason I ask is that the two logs you posted still showed winlogonhook.

Also your Ewido log show a bunch of malware problems being found and fixed.

As to whether your system is totally clean, I cannot answer since I don't have enough info to go on from these two logs you posted. My guess would be NO based on what I saw in your Ewido log.

You really should run the below to find out if your system is clean.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis
