I am trying to re-install Windows Vista, but when I click on 'install', I get the following error message:

Windows cannot load required file WinSetup.dll. The file maybe corrupt. To install Windows, restart the installation. Error code 0x45A

I have tried to install with three other Vista dvd's and I get the same error message. All three dvd's are original Vista Ultimate dvd's.

Tried to find solution on Microsoft, but no go.

    Thanks,
    RwsRichard

    Hi

Hows are you trying to re-install Vista, is it via a Windows GUI of already installed OS or via booting to the DVD? If not booting to DVD, then use that method, change boot order to 1st boot device to CD/DVD.

If trying multiple DVDs in same DVD drive, if possible try a different DVD drive, borrow a friends if possible, so that you can rule out defective DVD drive.

Not quite sure what I did to fix it, it was a fluke. Got po'd about the error message and turned off pc. The next day I booted from DVD, which is the way I was trying to install and it worked.

Just another thing about Windows, I guess.

    Thanks for the assist.
