winsockxpfix for vista?

Hey guys I had the winsockxpfix program on the shifty desktop i was using. I loved it! It fixed the internet very easily. Now I have my new laptop I have windows vista. Anyhow I was wondering if there is a version of winsockxpfix for vista or if winsockxpfix is ok to use with vista.

You don't need a third party app for that. Wasn't needed for XPSP2, either.

Simply open a cmd prompt.

Start orb, in the search box type cmd hold CTRL-SHIFT, and hit ENTER. YOu will see a UAC prompt, if UAC is still enabled. Click OK, and you will have a command prompt with admin rights.

Then type

netsh winsock reset and hit enter.

Hey i'm having trouble with my wireless network connection and i tried to do what you told me to do instead of winsockxpfix however I honestly don't understand your instructions.

I clicked on the start orb and did the search for "cmd hold ctrl-shift" then did what you told me to do in cmd prompt however it says something about "the request operation requires elevation". I'm really quite confused! Also it never showed me a UAC prompt or any other prompt after doing the search.

ok well I got it to work. I just right clicked on it and opend it as an administrator and did it. I got the wireless connection working yesturday. Today its back to the same normal not working rubbish. I'm connected directly to the modem via an ethernet cable atm.
