We use these DLLs in our product and it is used for system licensing and licensing management for products. It is a third party software called Sherrif

I see all over this website where you are reporting this as possible malware, this is just untrue. Thanks.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    All over this website??????

I see two threads where this was mentioned. One is from Nov 2007 ( 1.5 yrs old) and one from April 2005 ( 5 years old ) and the one from 2005 we did not remove it. The user posting just mentioned seeing the file.

If this is your software and if it is a valid program and if it was installed on these two PCs, why didn't it show up in Add/Remove Programs?

These files are not known to be valid anywhere on the internet. If valid, why don't they have Properties information and why aren't they located in your own folder so they can be associated with your software. If these are being installed via 3rd party applications like games or other commercial software, they still need to be properly identified with valid Properties information and the software should show up as being installed so that it can also be uninstalled. If copy protection software does not want to be identified as malware then it should not be installed like malware behind a user's back and without proper file identification information and without an uninstaller.

because its third party software, not everybody wants to write an entire licensing library when there is one out there for purchase.

its third party software integrated into other software.

My company uses sheriff as a third party licensing library vendor.

Additionally there are more software companies than just my company that uses Sheriff.

This is all nice, but it does not change the fact that you were only referring to 2 very old threads and that one of them did not delete the files. The user simply mentioned seeing them and obviously did not know what they were. And in the other, they were deleted because they showed up at the same time as the user started having problems. After they were deleted along with a bunch of other files, all was good as far as this user was concerned.
