Tuesday was horrid here Not so much snow accumulation but rather slippery and slushy. I was in and out of the truck all day and my feet were soo wet. I'm getting a better pair of steel toe boots and this time I'm going to make sure they are waterproof.
I have to give the plow feet here credit ... they stayed on top of things and kept the roads open. I know people hate getting behind a plow truck but considering how bad the roads can get, they have a job and do it well.

To think I was complaining about that tiny covering of snow in my first post. :-D You all have us way beat.

We got more snow the day before Thanksgiving...probably about 4 inches or so. It's all gone now though, so all is well.

We ended up with a total of 31 inches in November, which blew away the old 1895 record of 28.2 inches. It was also the 7th coldest November on record.

And then it all melted. And came back last night. Not like it was, though... there's probably only about two inches out there right now and the sun is shining. It's stupid cold, though.

Phantom, I can't see myself ever living in Labrador, but if that was my view every morning I'm pretty sure I'd have to shoot myself in the head. :eek

Well, we had 44 deg C., today, (almost 110 deg. f). Most of the East states are burning, especially South Australia. And we get the nice Monsoonal humidity as well. I detest this weather!! :cry:cry:cry

Thankfully it's been really mild here. There have been some REALLY cold days but no snow, except a few floater flakes, and it was almost 60 degrees on Christmas day.

I was terrified because they were saying it was supposed to be as bad as last year where we got at least 3-6 inches of snow every week! So glad it's been mild, although we still have Jan & Feb to go through.

It's cold here and on Wednesday it's supposed to be even colder.

    Temp now at 4:14 PM = 10F + windchill feels like -11F

    That's -12C + windchill feels like -24C

Last night after work (around 2am) I stood outside for something like 5-6 minutes, wearing in addition to my regular clothes a hoodie, a coat, a scarf, and fleece-lined gloves. My eyes immediately started watering and my eyelashes froze together, my nose froze shut, and by the time I got in the car I couldn't feel my fingers and my breathing was more like panting.

Apparently it was 8F with a wind chill of -12F, and that's about how it's gonna be for the next few days. Plus lake effect snow on top of the inch or so of ice from the rain/freezing rain game we played for a couple of days before the temperature dropped.

I was SO enjoying the above normal temperatures, no snow December!

I'm going to go ahead and assume "dew point" does not mean what I think it means. At least, this afternoon our dew point was at -4F (-20C), and now it's down to -6F (-21C). My understanding of "dew point" does not allow for sub-zero temperatures.

But hey...the wind chill has remained steady at -21F (-30C) most of the day, so there's that. Plus, the actual temperature has so far stayed above 0 (yeah, so it's been 1F (-17C), but at least it's above zero!).

Fred, I carry two pairs of gloves and a pair of mittens with me at all times. LOL

Had I known we were actually going to have a snow storm this time, I would've taken pictures. Since about 2pm when it started snowing, we've gotten at least a foot. At least the wind finally died down! The drift between my house and garage was to mid-thigh when I plowed through it to get home tonight.

And it got warm! It's all the way up to 10F (-12C). Heat wave! :-D Plus, I don't have to work until 9pm tomorrow, so hopefully it'll stop and they'll get the roads plowed.

You know it's a big deal when it not only makes the national news, they use footage of the local affiliates doing a standup on the side of the road.

It had all the elements of a fabulous story, though: 1 death, dozens of injuries, 120+ vehicles, a fireworks truck on fire, a truck carrying corrosive acid on fire, an evacuation, and a partridge in a pear tree. That stretch of I-94 is a b***h!

Me, I shoveled for almost an hour today, and got it down enough so we can leave the house and receive mail. I figure I'll actually see cement again some time in April.

We finally had our 3 days of winter in the panhandle. Saw some black ice on a flat roof I was on this week. Slippery stuff. Also it forced us to pick the rest of the oranges. Already was giving some away as fast as we picked now have to double up the effort.

I chiseled about an inch of ice off my sidewalks and porch today since it finally got warm enough. Been over freezing for a couple of days, so I took advantage.
