My mom recently bought a new 1TB hard drive because her older drive was having SMART errors and crashing regularly. She asked me if there were any programs for moving things around, and I told her I didn't think so, however after she Googled it she found a program called LapLink PCMover. http://www.laplink.com/pcmover After some cajoling I helped her figure out how to move her programs over onto the new drive with it, but it didn't move everything. That's ok. The bigger issue is that it seems to have royally screwed up her registry because now whenever she goes to reinstall whatever programs she had (Steam and Quicktime come to mind) she's getting Error 1324: The folder path contains an invalid character. I have no idea what's going on at this point, and Googling the error doesn't do anything to explain things. Is there any easy way to fix this? Or any hard way? I'm getting tired of trying to figure it out when I don't know what I'm doing.
