    WinXP Home SP2 or SP3; BSOD error 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
The file name listed is ndis.sys. The message is the 'generic' message about checking for a possible update or to remove any newly installed software/hardware. I searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base and there doesn't seem to be any 0x00000050 errors related to ndis.sys. Most of the ndis.sys errors are associated with 0x0000000A.

    Any ideas?

From what I've read, solutions mentioned:
    a) uninstall and reinstall the NIC driver or get a different driver
    b) disable the onboard NIC, if there is one and install a NIC card
    c) use config.sys to expand ndis.sy_ into system32/drivers
note: in the above only the ndis.sys error was mentioned so I don't know what stop error went with these.

Thanks. I'll look into this and see if it's the NIC. The PCs owner thinks it's malware, and it could very well be malware, but most modern malware likes to hijack the PC but keep it running to goad the user into installing more malware or into giving up a credit card number or something similar. I didn't have much time to look at this particular PC today.... tomorrow I'll have more time....
    Thanks again!
