I'm working on a PC running XP Pro SP3, it's activated, it passes Microsoft's genuine validation (when installing something like WMP11 for example), but the blue Welcome screen always comes up with a window saying that Windows did not pass genuine validation, and in the lower right corner is a 2nd window stating that Windows needs to be activated. I can click on either "Resolve Now" or "Resolve Later" in the larger 'did not pass genuine validation' window, and the PC will load to the desktop, and all is good until I shut down, then another window stating that Windows may be counterfeit appears in the lower right corner of the blue screen that says "saving settings - shutting down" when restarting or powering off. The PC has a legit product key sticker, it's malware free except for some minor "MyWeb" adware that has already been removed.... what gives? How do I get rid of these annoying inaccurate messages?

    THX!

    Hello,

Maybe Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications was installed. It really is not needed. If you run this utility, do you still get the message?

Yea, that Windows Notification is a pain. Glad it worked for you.
