Wireless keyboard and printer, surfin on a big LCD/Plasma TV

1/ Does Dell have a PC that can be simply plugged into a large LCD/plasma screen? I've been asked to put together this type of setup, along with a wireless mouse and keyboard so the net can be surfed from the couch. Maybe a 'media' PC?
what connections do i need to look for on the existing tv?
what problems might i encounter?

2/ The laser printer also needs to be made wireless so the laptops can connect to it.

I've no experience of doing this type of work, any help appreciated.

 

I would look at the MediaPC line for any of the manufacturers out there, but make sure that the Video output is either DVI or HDMI (HDMI is better). As for the keyboard & printer, you can go with Logitec or Microsoft for the Keyboard/Mouse, and printer can be any of the Network type printers that use WiFi. It really comes down to budget.

Personally I would use a LCD over Plasma, due to longterm static images, even on the newer generation Plasmas will leave a image retention on them.

 

An additional requirement, he wants a VCR shaped computer to fit in under the widescreen. I was thinking something along the lines of this gear

He really wants it all. Does the OP want to browse the Web, or record & watch Media? Personally, I would go with something like a dedicated Media server such as the Apple TV, or a PC based unit such as you pointed that has Windows Media. Just make sure that the Tuner has HDMI outputs.

 

Make sure the OP gets a robust PC if it is to have the Monitor sit on top of it. Widescreens are pretty heavy. Even my small 26" LCD Samsung Monitor is heavy, and I wouldn't like it sitting on a PC box.

OP would be better with the PC on a separate shelf under the Monitor, IMO. Bazza
