Wireless maybe?

my cable comes in through my Motorola SURFBoard Cable Modem, to my D-Link DI-704p router then to my pc and WAP11 v.2.6 Wireless Access Point. My problem is I can't configure the wireless access point. I can't access any web configurations because the browser keeps giving me a failure to load with the 192.168......address. How do I configure all this? Is my Kaspersky stopping something?

 

you should just directly connect the AP to your computer. If the default IP on your AP is 192.168.1.5, give your computer a static IP of 192.168.1.6 or something. then you should be able to connect and assign that AP with a static IP that is in coordination with your dhcp settings, make the reservation in your DHCP settings. then connect the AP back into your routers switch ports, and reset your computer back automatic IP settings as it was before.

 

The reason why you can't connect to your Wireless Access point is that it's on a different network than your computer is. That means the IP address range your computer is in cannot reach the IP range the AP is in.

What you need to do is change your computer IP to be in the same range as the AP.

1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. Network Connections
4. Properties of Local Area Connection (Assuming your using it right now).
5. Properties of "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"
6. "Use of the following IP"

IP: 192.168.0.200
Subnet: 255.255.248.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222

Now you should have connectivity to the router, AP and the Internet.

Once you can access the AP change it's IP to 192.168.0.251.

Then setup your card to "Obtain and IP Address Automatically" and "Obtain a DNS Server Automatically".
